This pendant was hand fabricated from sterling silver sheet metal. It features an amazing stone, petrified palm wood. Palmoxylon (Petrified palmwood) is an extinct genus of palm named from petrified wood found around the world. It's fairly common in Texas, and Louisiana, and is a striking stone. This one reminded me of fire, so I gave it a border of decorative sterling wire with a flame design. A tiny 14K gold sphere was added as an accent. The stone is bezel set in fine silver.The metal was oxidized to highlight the decorative wire. Hung from an oxidized Sterling Silver cable chain. I soldered the clasp on the chain, a swivel lobster. This is a big pendant, so I tried to balance that with a long chain.
The pendant is 2 1/2" in length, and 1 1/2" in width. The sterling chain is 24" in length, and 3mm in width.
